This policy explains what information J-Opps collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, and (for individuals) date of birth, plus a password handled by our sign-in provider.
- Profile information you choose to add: things like location, phone number, education, work and interests, languages, a photo, a résumé, and links. This can include information about your Jewish background or affiliation if you provide it. You control what you fill in, and the profile has visibility settings for some fields.
- Activity: opportunities you apply to or RSVP for, bookmarks, messages, follows, notification settings, and reports or feedback you submit.
- Organizations: the organization’s name, contact details, website, description, and the opportunities it posts.
- Technical data: information needed to keep the site working and secure, such as cookies for staying signed in and signals used to prevent abuse.
2. How we use it
- To run J-Opps: create your account, show opportunities, process applications and RSVPs, and send you messages and notifications.
- To check eligibility for opportunities based on what’s in your profile.
- To keep the community safe: review organizations, handle reports, and prevent abuse.
- To improve the site.
We don’t sell your personal information.
3. Who can see it
- When you apply or RSVP, the organization running that opportunity can see the information you submit and the profile details needed to respond.
- Exact event addresses are shown only to people who have RSVPed, applied, or been accepted, and to the organization.
- Organization profiles and opportunities are public once approved.
- J-Opps administrators can access account information as needed for support and moderation; their actions are logged.
4. Service providers
We use trusted providers to run the service, including hosting and database services, email and text-message delivery, and bot protection. They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide those services.
5. Your choices
- Edit your profile and notification settings at any time.
- Delete your account from Settings.
- Use the Feedback button in the site header if you need help with your information.
6. Security
We use access controls and other safeguards to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure. See our Security page for more.
7. Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll ask you to review and accept the new version before you keep using the site.
